The Role: We’re looking for a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our team. In this role, you will not only manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, but also take ultimate responsibility for the quality of accounting and financial reporting produced by the team. This includes defining standards for excellence, running team operations, and driving process improvement. You’ll collaborate closely with the Accounting Service Manager, third-party accounting teams, and the Platform and Product teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, optimize workflows, and maintain the financial health of our growing business. Key Responsibilities: Client Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of clients, overseeing day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial records, and delivering exceptional service. Quality Control Leadership: Define what "great" looks like for all accounting deliverables. Communicate and document these standards clearly across the team. Conduct regular reviews to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to US GAAP standards. Team Operations: Lead team stand-ups and ensure visibility and transparency across the team’s portfolio. Provide clear updates and action plans to keep the team aligned. Process Improvement: Design and document scalable accounting workflows, optimize templates and guidelines within the Accounting Hub, and implement changes to improve efficiency and scalability as grows. Bookkeeping: Accurately record financial transactions, including processing accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger entries. Financial Reporting: Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards. Account Reconciliation: Perform regular reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, including bank, credit card, and general ledger accounts. Compliance & Tax Support: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, supporting tax filings and audits as needed. Audit Support: Leverage your audit expertise to maintain robust financial records and support internal and external audit processes. Technology & Tooling: Collect ongoing feedback from the team to collaborate with the Platform and Product teams. Stay up to date on best-in-class tools to enhance the safety, reliability, and efficiency of accounting processes. Team Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with the Accounting Service Manager to mentor junior team members, provide feedback, and support professional development. Budget & Forecast Support: Provide data-driven insights to support budget tracking, forecasting, and variance analysis. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, operations, and third-party accounting teams, to drive seamless financial processes and decision-making. Requirements: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Experience: Minimum of 4-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a startup or small business environment. Audit experience is strongly preferred. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and advanced Excel skills. Experience with financial ERP systems is a plus. Knowledge: Strong understanding of US GAAP, financial reporting requirements, and tax regulations. Attention to Detail: Demonstrated accuracy and meticulous attention to detail in financial reporting and reconciliations. Problem-Solving: Ability to proactively identify potential issues and implement effective solutions. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders. Process-Oriented: Proven experience in creating and implementing scalable processes and documentation. Leadership: Experience mentoring or managing team members, with a collaborative and supportive approach.
