Assessment instruments

  • AcceptanceAssessment instruments

Acceptance is the ability to allow a difficult emotion to be present without fighting it or judging yourself for having it.

    Part of DERS →

Fighting an emotion often costs more energy than the emotion itself. This facet is about whether someone can sit with a feeling long enough to let it pass, rather than escalating it by resisting it.

    How it shows up

High acceptance can feel disappointed without spiraling into self-criticism about being disappointed. Low acceptance often adds a second layer of distress on top of the first.

    Why it matters

Acceptance shapes how long a hard moment lasts, which matters more to sustainability than how intensely it was felt in the first place.
