Assessment instruments

  • TraditionAssessment instruments

Tradition is the value placed on respect for and commitment to the customs and ideas that one's culture or group provides.

    Part of PVQ

    Distinct from conformity

It's closely related to conformity but distinct from it: tradition is about respecting existing customs specifically, while conformity is about restraint from disruptive action more broadly.

    How it shows up

High tradition finds real value in doing things the way they've been done, and is cautious about discarding that without good reason. Low tradition treats established custom as one input among several, easily outweighed by a better alternative.

    Why it matters at Mappa

Tradition is often the value most in tension with a fast-scaling, constantly-changing company, and naming that tension early is more useful than discovering it later.
