Assessment instruments

  • Aesthetic appreciationAssessment instruments

Aesthetic appreciation is enjoyment and appreciation of beauty in art, design, and nature.

    Part of Openness

    What it’s about

It's a narrower facet than general Openness, and one of the ones least directly tied to job performance on its own, though it often travels alongside creativity.

    How it shows up

High aesthetic appreciation notices and cares about design quality, visual detail, and craft, sometimes in places others wouldn't think to look. Low aesthetic appreciation simply doesn't register those details as strongly.

    Why it matters at Mappa

It's a useful facet precisely because it doesn't always move together with creativity, and treating the two as one trait would blur a real distinction.
