Assessment instruments

  • Regulation strategiesAssessment instruments

Regulation strategies measure how much access someone believes they have to effective ways of managing a difficult emotion once it arrives.

    Part of DERS

    Confidence in your own toolkit

This is less about the emotion itself and more about a person's confidence in their own toolkit: do they believe they have a way through it, or does the feeling seem like something that simply has to be endured.

    How it shows up

High access reaches for something that works, breaking a problem down, talking it through, stepping away briefly. Low access can feel stuck with the emotion, with no sense of a lever to pull.

    Why it matters at Mappa

This facet is often what separates someone who recovers quickly from a setback from someone who has the same underlying resilience but no practiced way to use it.

Find out how equipped you feel to manage a hard moment.
