Assessment instruments

  • UnconventionalityAssessment instruments

Unconventionality is willingness to accept unusual ideas or unconventional people, rather than favoring the familiar and expected.

    Part of Openness

    Accepting vs. generating

Where creativity is about generating unconventional ideas, unconventionality is about accepting them, including ideas and people that come from somewhere else.

    How it shows up

High unconventionality gives an unusual proposal or an unconventional colleague genuine consideration rather than instinctive skepticism. Low unconventionality tends to favor what's familiar and proven, and needs more convincing before it moves off that.

    Why it matters at Mappa

It's a strong predictor of comfort with people and ideas that don't fit an existing mold, which matters considerably more in some organizational cultures than others.

Find out how unconventional you actually are.
