Assessment instruments

  • ClarityAssessment instruments

Clarity is how precisely someone can identify which emotion they're feeling, beyond simply noticing that something is happening.

    Part of DERS

    Distinct from awareness

It's distinct from awareness. Someone can register that they feel bad without being able to tell whether that's frustration, disappointment, or anxiety, and those call for different responses.

    How it shows up

High clarity can name the specific feeling and respond to it directly. Low clarity often responds to a vague sense of "off" without knowing what's actually driving it.

    Why it matters at Mappa

Clarity determines whether someone can act on the right problem, not just react to the discomfort of having one.
