Assessment instruments

  • PrudenceAssessment instruments

Prudence is a tendency toward deliberation and caution, and resistance to acting on impulse.

    Part of Conscientiousness

    What it’s about

It's the facet most concerned with the space between an idea and an action: how much consideration happens before someone commits to a decision.

    How it shows up

High prudence tends to weigh options and consequences before acting, even under time pressure. Low prudence moves faster from idea to action, for better and for worse depending on the stakes involved.

    Why it matters at Mappa

Prudence is what stands between an impulse and a committed decision, and it's a meaningfully different thing from organization or diligence, even though all three sit under the same broad factor.
