Speech & model terms

  • DiarisationSpeech & model terms

Diarisation is the process of separating who spoke when in a recording, distinguishing one speaker's voice from another's across a conversation.

Without diarisation, a system modeling a conversation would blend everyone's speech together, treating an interviewer's questions the same as a candidate's answers. In real recordings, overlapping speech, interruptions, and uneven audio quality make this a genuinely difficult problem, not a minor bookkeeping step.

    How it shows up

A recording where diarisation works well can isolate one speaker's full contribution even through crosstalk and interruptions. A recording where it fails can attribute one person's words to another.

    Why it matters

Diarisation is a precondition for everything else in a voice pipeline to be about the right person, which makes it foundational rather than incidental.

See what gets read once the right voice is isolated.
