Assessment instruments

  • Externally motivatedAssessment instruments

External motivation is the drive to take initiative in response to incentives, recognition, or expectations set by others.

    Part of PPS

A different source, not a lesser one

It's not a lesser form of motivation, just a different source: action that's genuinely tied to an external structure, rather than an internal sense of meaning.

    How it shows up

High external motivation responds strongly to clear incentives and recognition for proactive behavior. Low external motivation is less swayed by those signals either way.

    Why it matters at Mappa

This facet matters most in combination: a strongly externally motivated, proactive person will thrive in an environment that recognizes initiative, and may quietly disengage in one that doesn't.

Find out how much recognition fuels your initiative.
