Assessment instruments

  • DependenceAssessment instruments

Dependence is the degree to which a person needs emotional support and reassurance from others, particularly under stress.

    Part of Emotionality

    About interdependence, not weakness

It's a facet about interdependence, not weakness. High dependence means someone does meaningfully better with active support during hard periods. Low dependence means someone tends to self-regulate without leaning on others as much.

    How it shows up

Under a rough deadline or a setback, a highly dependent person benefits visibly from a manager checking in. A low-dependence person may find the same check-ins unnecessary, or even slightly intrusive.

    Why it matters at Mappa

It shapes what kind of management someone actually responds to under pressure, which is often different from what they'd say they need if you simply asked.

Find out how much support you actually need.
